How do you feel your songs will help kids who have experienced bullying or have been treated unfairly by “mean girls”?

I hope that “A Better Day” and “It’s Not Worth It” will inspire people to use their

voice and stand up for themselves and for other people. I want them to feel

happy and empowered and feel like they can speak for themselves and feel like

they’re not alone.

Tell us about your home influences.. were you brought up in a musical family?

Yes, because both my Mom and Dad play music, write songs and sing. They

inspire me and help me with my music. I love them. I’m lucky because I get

to help my Dad in our home studio produce my songs and learn the basics of

producing. There’s been music in my house ever since I was a baby and at two

years old I was already sitting on my Dad’s lap with my mom recording me at the

drum kit playing (with Dad helping me of course).

What music artists inspire you?

Colbie Caillat & Sara Bareilles

Who would you like to be compared to musically?

Colbie Caillat

How does it make you feel singing in front of an audience?

When I sing on stage it makes me feel happy, excited and joyful.

If you could duet or go on tour with an artist or band, who would it be and why?

I would love to go on tour with Colbie Caillat because she inspires me and

someday I hope to be a singer/songwriter/musician just like her. Her music is

happy and uplifting. I met her at a concert at the House Of Blues and she was

very nice and happy just like her music and she took the time to talk to me about

my music. She made a great impression on me.

What are your favourite hobbies other than singing?

Reading, drawing, golfing and tennis.

What is the most exciting thing that has happened in your musical career to date?

Playing at an open mic at the House Of Blues and getting asked to come back

for a paying gig. It was an AWESOME feeling to get asked that at only nine! I felt

SO honored.

What are your favourite hobbies other than singing?

Reading, drawing, golfing and tennis.

If you lost your voice and could not sing again, what would you like to do as career.. so if singing was not an option...

I would like to either be a fashion designer, actress or a songwriter.

What are your hopes for the future?

My hopes are to be a musician, singer and songwriter.

What is your favourite fast food meal? Mac Ds, KFC, VIPS (if you eat fast food...mine is MC D, )

Chick-fil-a. I would order chicken nuggets, French fries, and a salad with

thousand island dressing on the side.

So what events/ gigs have you got coming up?

Well, I’m booked at the House Of Blues, the Palladium, Lone Star, and I’m

scheduled to sing the National Anthem at an opening football game. The Lone

Star gig is a benefit for the American Red Cross in DFW.

Any signs of getting an album together?

I think yes because I’m working on some songs and it’s almost enough for an EP.

Where would you like to be in 10 years time?

I would like to be singing, playing my guitar and piano at concerts and being

a songwriter - for me. I would like to play at big venues like Madison Square

Garden, The Greek Theater in LA and really everything in between!! I would like

to open for Colbie Caillat, Sara Bareilles, Justin Young and Pete Yorn before

going out on my own!!

What advice do you have for young people who are experiencing bullying?...

Just be strong and stand up to the bully because when someone is bullying you

or another person, it usually means they’re either jealous of you or they’re just

down right mean and insecure. You should talk to your parents and teachers

about what’s happening whether it’s in school or out of school. It’s hard to deal

with but in the end, you’ll come out of it a much stronger person. Use your

voice because my mom always tells me “one voice can make a difference.” So

if one voice can make a difference, you can be that one voice that makes that

difference.
